Without realizing, you may have blocked the smooth flow of ch’i, the life-giving energy the Chinese believe flows through our bodies and our surroundings, by the unfortunate positioning of a table or bed. Or perhaps a tree is too close to the house or the garden fence is too high.
The Chinese have a saying, “First, luck; second, destiny; third, Feng Shui; fourth, virtues; fifth, education”: although Feng Shui can be a powerful force in shaping our lives, it is not a cure for all ills. Luck plays a major role, and personality, or karma, is almost as important. What we do with our lives and how we behave towards others will play a part, and education gives us the tools to make sense of the world. Feng Shui is just one part of the complete package.
